Blake Lively made a bombshell return to the Met Gala following the settlement of her legal battle with Justin Baldoni.
The 38-year-old actress walked the red carpet at the annual event on Monday, just hours after news broke that she and Baldoni had settled the case ahead of the May 18 trial date.
However, Lively’s attorney, Sigrid McCawley, praised the actress during an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Thursday and said she is “moving on with her life.”
Speaking about Lively’s decision to attend the Met Gala, McCawley said the appearance was meant to show the actress was “standing up and not being silenced.”
“That’s exactly what Blake is intent on doing. We wouldn’t want any woman in that position to be silenced. They should be out living their life.”
McCawley also opened up about what comes next for the actress after the settlement.
According to her lawyer, Lively is now focused on “exposing the digital retaliation campaign here that was weaponized against her.”
Her attorney added that Lively “was incredibly brave to stand up for herself in that moment and for others in the workplace and she’s going to continue to pave that path of being really bold and brave in this moment.”
Meanwhile, Baldoni’s lawyer weighed in on the settlement between the It Ends with Us co-stars.
Speaking to TMZ, he said, “Part of the reason Blake settled is because she was scared to take the witness stand at trial. She did not want to face cross examination by anyone because that would require her to tell the truth.”
Lively attended the gala solo wearing an archival Atelier Versace gown featuring a shimmering bodice and full skirt.
Her husband, Ryan Reynolds, did not join her on the red carpet.
During the event, the actress also spoke with Vogue about her look and revealed she carried a bag decorated with artwork created by her children.
Lively shares four children – James, 11, Inez, nine, Betty, six, and Olin, three – with Reynolds.
