On Wednesday, July 8, Justin Baldoni broke his silence after settling his legal war with It Ends With Us co-star Blake Lively. In a video posted to Instagram, Baldoni and his wife, Emily Baldoni, opened up about the “injustice” and “pain” they’ve endured over the last few years.
“We’ve had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like how could something like this even happen? “Let alone disguised as a fight for women. So much to unpack,” Emily said, noting that both she and Baldoni have experienced “a lot of trauma” that makes it quite difficult to speak candidly.
Baldoni added, “What I will say is that there have been so many painful things that have been spoken into existence over the last couple of years. That created so much noise, and we didn’t want to add to the noise. So we just wanted to let the justice system run its course.”
As for how they’re coping, Baldoni shared, “We are healing. If you’ve ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isn’t linear. It looks different every day.”
Although the Baldonis didn’t mention Lively by name, sources report that she’s furious about the video. “Blake watched every second of the video, and she was absolutely furious,” a source told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice. “She believes Justin is trying to rewrite history and recast himself as the victim. That’s not how she sees it.”
Despite her fury, Lively reportedly has no plans to respond publicly. “She’s not taking the bait,” an insider claimed. “Blake has no interest in giving this another news cycle. In her mind, the case is over, and she’s determined to keep it that way.”
On the other hand, Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, is “enraged.” According to a separate source, “He thinks Justin is reopening wounds that everyone worked incredibly hard to close. He doesn’t understand why anyone would want to drag this back into the spotlight.”
Insiders alleged that Lively and Reynolds considered responding to the Baldonis, but ultimately decided that “silence was their strongest move” because “responding only amplifies his message. They think the most powerful statement they can make is saying nothing.”
“Blake has moved on, even if Justin hasn’t,” another source claimed. However, recent developments suggest otherwise.

In late June 2026, Lively filed another multi-million-dollar lawsuit against Baldoni. People reported that Lively filed a petition on Monday, June 29, seeking $8.04 million in legal fees and more than $539,000 in litigation expenses from Baldoni after his defamation case against her was tossed. In court documents obtained by People, Lively’s legal team described their efforts to defeat Baldoni’s suit as “comprehensive and necessary to achieve the complete win that was secured.”
Lively’s attorneys noted that she “has paid, and continues to pay” her own legal bills and intends to pursue “any additional attorneys’ fees” incurred while seeking reimbursement.
Her latest filing attributes the high costs to the case’s high profile, referencing “significant press attention, with thousands of indexed and syndicated media articles.” The request also cited extensive discovery, including “more than 7,000 documents” from Lively and “tens of thousands more from the Wayfarer parties and third parties.”
Although Lively has detailed the amount she believes she’s owed, the battle is nowhere near being over. Judge Lewis J. Liman has ordered Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios to respond to the request by July 13, after which he will determine “whether to award the full amount, reduce it, or deny portions of the request altogether.”
