SAYREVILLE – Jon Bon Jovi and his wife Dorothea made some surprise visits in their old hometown Monday, stopping by the Bombers Beyond Cafe and the Sayreville Historical Society, both on Main Street.
The Bombers Beyond Cafe shared the exciting news in a Facebook post Nov. 10 saying the 1980 Sayreville War Memorial High School graduates stopped by the community cafe to visit the Bombers Beyond Brew Crew.
“It was an unforgettable moment filled with smiles, stories, and community spirit. Thank you, Jon, for taking the time to connect and support our crew — your hometown pride truly shines!” states the post which also features several photos of Bon Jovi and the crew members.
Bombers Beyond Cafe, 132 Main St., is a student-run education transition program for students with disabilities aging out of school, that opened in 2023. The program serves as a bridge between school and adulthood.
The participants learn job readiness, social skills, job-specific and independent skills. The cafe is open from 8 a.m. to noon on school days.

The Bombers Beyond Cafe Facebook post received more than 100 comments, including one remarking that Bon Jovi is “Once a Bomber, Always a Bomber” and another saying, “Who says you can’t go home again,” a reference to one of the hitmaker’s most popular songs.
Others remarked about Bon Jovi getting to meet some “true celebrities,” the students in the program.

Councilwoman Mary Novak mentioned Bon Jovi’s visit to the cafe during Monday’s Borough Council meeting.
“I can’t thank him enough. You can go home,” Novak said. “He’s done so much in the town of Red Bank and several other towns in helping people get fed that might be on hard times,” she said. “The Bombers Beyond Cafe has been such a success in this town and for him to come today and take pictures with people, I’d really like to thank him for that.”
Sayreville Superintendent of Schools Richard Labbe said the Bombers Beyond Cafe is a great place with a wonderful atmosphere.
The cafe wasn’t their only stop. Bon Jovi and his wife also visited the Sayreville Historical Society, 425 Main St., where the singer signed in as a “proud son.”
“The museum had two special visitors today! They enjoyed their tour and the Sayreville Historical Society hopes they visit again,” said a Sayreville Historical Society Facebook post, which included a photo of the couple dressed in jeans and jackets near a display case.

It was a busy Monday for Bon Jovi’s family after his son Jesse Bongiovi and wife Jesse Light announced on Instagram they have welcomed their first child, daughter Blair Lucy Bongiovi.
The new baby is Bon Jovi’s second grandchild. His son Jake Bongiovi and daughter-in-law Millie Bobby Brown are parents to a baby girl.
