Daredevil will return to beat up (but not kill) bad guys again! Daredevil: Born Again has yet to debut its second season, but the successful Disney+ revival of the Netflix-era MCU series has already been renewed for a third outing.
The news came from IGN, who interviewed Marvel TV boss Brad Winderbaum. He confirmed that Daredevil would, in fact, return for more street-level Marvel adventures, and that the third season would shoot in 2026. Given that Season 2 will debut in March 2026, it’s a safe bet that Season 3 will be scheduled for 2027.
Daredevil: Born Again saw the grand return of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil following the character’s debut in the Netflix run of New York-set series following the dark and gritty exploits of some of Marvel’s more relatively grounded heroes. In addition to Daredevil, which ran for three seasons, Netflix also played host to three seasons of Jessica Jones and two each for Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher, as well as a season-long team-up series (sans Punisher), The Defenders.
Following the unceremonious cancellation of the Marvel/Netflix partnership, the canon status of these shows was in doubt, both to fans and to the folks at Marvel. In 2021, Charlie Cox appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home, confirming that a version of his character was, in fact, canon to the MCU. He also popped up for a memorable arc in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. However, when Daredevil: Born Again began development at Disney+, it was not originally planned to be a continuation of the Netflix series, but a reboot, at least stylistically. After filming for the series was already underway, the show was overhauled and retooled into the series that debuted earlier this year, repurposing already-shot footage to accommodate the rewritten episodes. While inconsistent due to the troubled production, Born Again was seen as largely successful, and hopes are high that Season 2 (and, indeed, Season 3 and beyond) will be even better.
Season 2 will bring in more MCU representation, with Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) scheduled to appear. The Punisher, as played by Jon Bernthal. already popped up in Season 1 and is due to come back in next year’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, so that just leaves Finn Jones’s Iron Fist and Mike Colter’s Luke Cage left to make their proper Marvel Studios debut. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long before we see Iron Fist and Shang-Chi kicking butt together with sweet martial arts moves, or Luke Cage challenge The Thing to an arm-wrestling match. Here’s hoping She-Hulk finds a way to visit New York to fight crime alongside her sweet summer fling, Matt Murdock.
