Bow Wow Reveals Advice He’d Give 15-Year-Old Daughter Shai If She Wanted to Follow in His Famous Footsteps (Exclusive)

Bow Wow would fully support his teen daughter’s career — even if it were in the entertainment industry.

The rapper, actor and entrepreneur and his 15-year-old daughter Shai Moss attended the 2026 BET Awards in Los Angeles on June 28. At the event, Bow Wow, 39, exclusively told PEOPLE the advice he would give Shai if she wanted to follow in his famous footsteps.

“Be serious about it. Don’t play with it,” he said. “And if you’re serious, let’s do it. I got your back a hundred million percent — and we are going to get it done.”

Bow Wow, born Shad Moss, then explained his overall parenting style.

“She knows she got it, but it’s all on her time, and I’m not one of them parents that’s forcing it,” he said.

Added Bow Wow: “She’s got to want to do it, and that’s how you build that love for this, and you’ll never want to leave it.”

The Like Mike star catapulted into fame when he was 13 with his debut album, Beware of Dog, which went double platinum, in 2000.

Looking back at his journey, Bow Wow cautioned about what could happen if he forced Shai into the spotlight. 

“If I put it on her and make her do it, it ain’t going to work. So it’s all on her. But if she decides to do it, I got it,” the proud father said.

In 2021, Shai made her acting debut on the Nickelodeon show Side Hustle. She also appeared in 2023’s A Screenshot to Santa.

Among Shai’s other red carpets, she attended the premiere of F9, the 2021 film from the Fast & Furious franchise, starring her dad as Twinkie.

Bow Wow shares Shai with ex Joie Chavis. He is also dad to son Stone, 6, whom he shares with ex Olivia Sky.
