Comedian and “Saturday Night Live” star Bowen Yang hit Bourbon Street Friday night and took part in New Orleans’ gay nightlife — with a spooky twist.
In a photo posted to his Instagram story, Yang posed with his “Las Culturistas” podcast co-host Matt Rogers in front of a banner for the Walking with the Gay Ghosts of New Orleans tour.
The tour starts at Lafitte’s in Exile and walks visitors through “the devastating and enlivening history of queer goblins in the French Quarter,” according to its description on Eventbrite.
Yang, 34, has been a member of the “SNL” cast since 2019 and has quickly risen to becoming one of the show’s most recognizable faces.
Yang was nominated for an Emmy for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2021. He also appeared in the 2024 film adaptation of “Wicked.”
If Yang and Rogers want to experience more of the city after the ghost tour, there are lots of French Quarter gay bars for drinks, dancing and drag shows. They could also walk a few minutes to the Marigny for a stiff drink at Phoenix Bar on Elysian Fields Avenue. Hope they brought cash!
It’s also Halloween New Orleans weekend. The three-day LGBTQ+ event features a ball, circuit party and tea dance and benefits Project Lazarus, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting those living with HIV and AIDS.
This year’s HNO theme is Myths & Legends.
