Marty Calderon and his Hesperia band are bringing Chicano soul to the desert on Friday, Jan. 23, and the High Desert’s newest band, Düssonic, will debut “dusty desert funk” in Apple Valley on the same day.

Country: Grammy-winning artist Brad Paisley will perform at The Show in Agua Caliente Casino, Rancho Mirage on Saturday, Jan. 31.

Jan. 23: Marty Calderon at Better Days Apple Valley
Chicano soul: Local artist Marty Calderon formed his Hesperia band in 2000. Inspired by the melodramatic sounds of The Silvertone and Thee Sinseers, Calderon slows things down in an old-school style with a full Chicano soul set.
If you go: The show starts at 7 p.m. at Better Days, located at 13692 Apple Valley Rd., Suite 250, Apple Valley. The show is 21+ only, and admission is free.
Jan. 23: Düssonic at Frogees
Three-piece power trio Düssonic is Hesperia’s newest band. They debuted this month at 3rd Strike Brewery in Hesperia, where they will maintain a weekly residence. So far, the new indie rock band has over 20 original songs. The Beatles meet Sly and the Family Stone meet The Black Lips in the tunes of this band, described by band members as “dusty desert funk.” The band will play with local new wave band Dead is Next at Frogees Cocktail Lounge in Apple Valley.

Jan. 29: The Fab Four tribute at Pechanga Resort Casino
Beatles tribute: The Fab Four loves to play in the desert, yeah, yeah yeah. The beloved Beatles tribute will bring their 60s nostalgia to the Pechanga Theater in Temecula on Thursday, Jan. 29.

Jan. 24: My Last Goodbye in Apple Valley
Head banging beats: Apple Valley band My Last Goodbye is playing its first show of the year house-style in Apple Valley. The local teenage band teeters on the edge of hardcore genres, with some songs punk and some more metal. They are currently in the studio working on recording their first single and an EP, which fans can catch a glimpse of at the Jan. 24 show.
