Hollywood actor Brad Pitt is continuing filming in Greece, with the production of his new movie The Riders moving to the coastal city of Halkida, an hour away from Athens after completing scenes on the island of Hydra.
According to Greek media reports, Pitt and the film crew are expected to arrive in Halkida by sea on Thursday, March 5, where they will stay for about a week while filming key scenes for the production.
The upcoming scenes will be shot at the site of the old railway station in Halkida, the capital of the island of Evia. Preparations for filming in the surrounding area are already underway.
Despite the scale of the Hollywood production, train services in the area are expected to continue operating normally, and authorities do not currently anticipate the need for traffic restrictions.
The Halkida shoot follows several days of filming in Hydra, which concluded on Tuesday, March 3. One of the film’s major scenes was shot at Lulu Tavern, a historic restaurant that has operated since 1865 and is considered the island’s first traditional tavern. The scene involved the injury of the protagonist’s daughter and required several hours of filming.
At the end of the Hydra shoot, members of the production team thanked local residents and Greek extras who participated in the filming.
After completing scenes in Halkida, the production will move to the Attica region near Athens. Filming is scheduled to continue in the coastal town of Nea Makri from March 11 to March 13.
The Riders is based on the 1994 novel of the same name by Australian author Tim Winton, which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. The film’s production in Greece marks a significant part of the movie’s international filming schedule.
