The acclaimed actor is already on the island and is expected to meet with the U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, who will be visiting Hydra for the holiday weekend.
Although his arrival was originally scheduled for Friday, the actor reportedly traveled a day early via a chartered vessel. This schedule change was likely a precaution against the upcoming bad weather expected to hit the area.

Speaking to ERT, local resident and film extra Kostas Argitis noted, “The island has been transformed into a massive movie set. Everything on Hydra currently revolves around Brad Pitt’s film.”
Filming is expected to last approximately two weeks. The local community is bracing for a surge in activity, coinciding with the Clean Monday long weekend. Production crews are already on-site, organizing the filming locations.
The municipality has committed to supporting the production, particularly regarding licensing and the use of public spaces. Mayor Georgios Koukoudakis told ERT that the island serves as a “natural film set” for such a major production. He confirmed that all requested permits have been granted and noted that “all accommodations, restaurants, and cafes” have opened early to meet the production’s needs.
About the film The Riders
The film is a cinematic adaptation of the acclaimed novel by Tim Winton. It boasts an elite creative team, directed by Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front) with a screenplay by David Kajganich. The project is a powerhouse collaboration between Scott Free Productions, Plan B, and A24.
Brad Pitt takes the lead role as Scully, a man who moves to Europe to start a new life with his wife and daughter. According to Deadline, the cast also features Emmy winner Julianne Nicholson and breakout star Coco Greenstone.
The story follows Scully as he painstakingly restores an old cottage in Ireland, only to have his life upended when his wife disappears, leading him and his young daughter on a desperate journey across Europe—including the sun-drenched landscapes of Greece.
