The Christian band Bridge Music, based out of Ottawa, are thrilled to receive its first-ever Juno nomination in the Christian music category.
“Bridge Music was launched in 2017,” says Reggie Dartey, one of the singers in the band. “We were actually the music team of our church. We really started off as a worship team, only doing live stuff. Our pastor reached out to us, and said, ‘We want to get you guys in the studio.'”
Dartey was only 15 years old in 2018 when the band officially started to release music outside the walls of their church.
“We’re a collective of writers, videographers, rappers, and singers. We’re a whole conglomerate. I think right now we’re probably at 20 people.”
Montessa Barahoga is also a part of the group.
“At the base of it all, I love Jesus,” says Barahoga. “That’s the whole point. I know that all I’ve been given is from Him. I just want to return that breath and gift to him.”
Technically Two Juno Nominations
Out of the five groups and Christian artists that were nominated this year, Dartey has a personal connection to two others, including his older brother.
“For me personally, just being up there with my team and also getting nominated with my brother,” says Dartey. “And Ryan Ofei is like a cousin to my family. So all three of us are in the same category. And so just for me personally, I know that it’s a win for everyone.”
Kofi Dartey, also nominated for a Juno this year, is Reggie’s oldest brother.
“So Kofi’s my eldest brother. We’re four boys and I’m the youngest. Our manager and the CEO for our label is my second oldest brother. And then my creative partner and everything is my third oldest brother. I make music with my eldest brother (Kofi).”
In a way, Reggie shares that it’s a double nomination for him as he’s featured on a lot of Kofi’s songs.
“To the team, it’s such a benchmark of the work that we’ve been able to put in. I know, we don’t like to look at accolades too much, because that’s not the reason why we do it. But it’s always great when we get a time to breathe, pause, and see that we did something special. It’s not just us who think that. Other people are starting to recognize that, especially from our country. Which is so huge.”
The group is excited to be attending the awards, held in Hamilton, ON, this year on March 29, 2026.
