Harry Potter and the Cursed Child jumped up more than $1.3 million last week as Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the films, joined the cast.

The play, which opened at the Lyric Theatre in 2018, grossed close to $2.6 million, making it the second highest grossing show in the industry last week. Helping aid that was the fact that the average ticket price shot up to $228 from $100 and capacity increased to 100 percent. Felton, who is playing an adult version of Draco, is scheduled to be in the play through May.

Similarly, The Great Gatsby saw its grosses jump more than $200,000 as Jeremy Jordan returned to the role of Jay Gatsby. The show grossed close to $1.2 million last week and played to 92 percent capacity at the Broadway Theatre.

On the other end of the spectrum, Rob Lake Magic With Special Guests The Muppets was the lowest grossing show on Broadway last week, even with an expanded nine performances, bringing in $285,713. The show, which is playing at the Broadhurst Theatre, announced Nov. 11 that it would be closing Nov. 16, rather than its planned run through January. The production only played 20 previews and four regular performances.

Hamilton with $3.8 million, still riding high from the return of Leslie Odom Jr., continues to top the industry charts, followed by Harry Potter. Wicked was the third highest grossing show, with $2.4 million, followed by Chess with $1.78 million and The Lion King with $1.76 million.

The high grosses for Chess came even as the show had five heavily comped press performances and a fully comped opening night Sunday. The revival of the Cold War musical, starring Lea Michele, Aaron Tveit and Nicholas Christopher, opened to mixed reviews.

Oedipus, starring Lesley Manville and Mark Strong, also opened last week, to largely positive reviews. With comped performances and an opening night, the play still brought in just above $850,000 and played to 100 percent capacity.
