When Calls the Heart is in the middle of filming season 13 on Hallmark.
Fans of the series learned Brooke Shields will reprise her role as Charlotte Thornton for three episodes in 2026.
Brooke also spoke out about what to expect from her cameo on When Calls the Heart.
As When Calls the Heart continues to drop clues about season 13, one of the show’s upcoming guest stars is teasing what to expect in Hope Valley.
Earlier in October, fans of the Hallmark series were thrilled to learn Brooke Shields will make a cameo as Charlotte Thornton on WCTH. Set to appear in three episodes during season 13 in 2026, the last time viewers saw her on the show was all the way back in season 3. And given how Charlotte’s presence was alluded to in the season 12 finale earlier this year, folks have been eager to discover what the character’s plans are for the upcoming installment.
Brooke was asked about her upcoming When Calls the Heart cameo when speaking to People on October 2. In fact, she alluded to the fact that Hope Valley looks a little different than she’s used to thanks to one key detail.
“What’s been difficult is just adapting to 1922 from where I was because the jump is just so extreme,” she told the outlet. “But we’re also seeing Charlotte evolve, which has been interesting. We create a path for her to modernize.”

Fans know that Charlotte begged her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow) to bring her grandson Little Jack (Hyland Goodrich) to Cape Fullerton for better diabetes resources. And folks also remember the last few minutes of WCTH season 12 saw Elizabeth do just that, with Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry) and his daughter Allie (Jaeda Lily Miller) joining them. Despite not knowing everything that’ll involve Charlotte’s appearance, Erin expressed in the same interview just how thrilled she was for Brooke to come back to the show.
“I have been crazily wanting to get Brooke back on When Calls the Heart for years,” Erin added. “I am so excited we were able to make the timing work. She is a dream to work with.”
And if that’s not enough, Brooke was clearly elated about returning to When Calls the Heart on Instagram.
“Charlotte Thornton is back!” Brooke exclaimed in the social media clip. “I am so happy to return to When Calls the Heart this all-new season.”
