Starting with Disney’s TRON: Ares, coming to theaters Oct. 10, starring Jared Leto, Jeff Bridges, and Greta Lee. With this partnership, content related to the new movie will now have a button to get seats and purchase tickets right inside the TikTok app, closing the gap between seeing a clip and seeing a film in theaters.

“At Fandango, our mission has always been to connect fans with the movies they love, wherever they are,” said Claire Ripsteen, SVP

of Marketing & Partnerships at Fandango. “This partnership with TikTok is a powerful step in meeting audiences in their daily digital lives, making it easier to turn the excitement of discovering a movie into the instant gratification of securing your tickets in advance, with no lines, and no waiting. We’re thrilled to launch with TRON: Ares and look forward to bringing this experience to more titles soon.”

The new feature is powered by TikTok’s latest addition, Spotlight, a tool for film and television studios to market directly to their consumers. With added features in letting users access details on films mentioned in content, and now purchasing tickets without ever leaving the social media app. Complete with marketing analytics for these companies, it’s aiming to take the guesswork out of wrangling audiences on social media for the newest releases.

Outside of ticket sales, Spotlight aims to create a seamless experience for fans to still consume the content they like, and for studios to benefit directly from this engagement.
