Ice Cream Festival

An Ice Cream and Treats Festival will take place at 4-9 p.m. Friday, June 19, at Foundry Plaza, Second Street and Cleveland Avenue.

Sample ice cream, sweets and treats from local vendors.

The event also will feature free kids activities, including art, face painting, dry ice science demos, a DJ dance party, photo booth and dessert-themed games.

Admission is free. Ice cream tickets are $2 for one or 12 for $20. You can purchase tickets at the event.

NoCo Home Show

Northern Colorado Home Show will take place noon-6 p.m. Friday, June 19, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 20, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, June 21, at the Pedersen Toyota Center, 5290 Arena Circle.

Organ Concert

Joel Bacon, the organ professor from Colorado State University, will give a free concert of organ music at 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, in the sanctuary of the First United Presbyterian Church, 400 E. Fourth St.

The residents of Hillcrest Senior Living have arranged for the concert, and the church and local community are invited to attend, free of charge.

The church’s Moller organ is over 100 years old and is a historic instrument.

Blood Drive

Loveland Elks Lodge BPOE 1051 will hold a blood drive with the Vitalant bloodmobile at 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, June 19, at Loveland Elks Lodge, 3521 W. Eisenhower Blvd.

Walk-ins are welcome but you can make an appointment at donors.vitalant.org.

The drive aims to help ensure a stable blood supply this summer for all patients. All donors will get a $15 gift card and a chance to win two tickets to the Greeley Stampede to see Jake Owen and Spur Club.

Public Star Night

A special Public Star Night will take place at 7-10 p.m. Friday, June 19, at the Little Thompson Observatory, 850 Spartan Ave.

At 7:30 p.m. Suzanne Metlay, Ph.D., will offer a program on “Rethinking how life developed on Earth: Evidence from asteroids.”

Asteroids Bennu and Ryugu are providing new perspectives on how simple molecules required for life on Earth formed in space. Recent papers on data from NASA and JAXA missions to these similar places suggest that we should re-think our standard models.

Metlay is full-time faculty in Earth & Space Sciences Teacher Education at Western Governors University.

Following the talk, the observatory will be open for public viewing through its telescopes, weather permitting.

Juneteenth Celebration

The Foothills Juneteenth Celebration will take place at 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 19, and noon-8 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at Foothills Mall, 215 E. Foothills Parkway.

Centered around this year’s theme “Belonging,” the two-day celebration will commemorate Juneteenth through live entertainment, art, education, wellness programming, and community connection.

A kickoff concert will feature The Reminders at 7 p.m. Friday.

The event will feature special performances from FoCo Motown Revue, Sol Pride and more, as well as a teen night, health and wellness events, live entertainment, art and education.

‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’

The Fort Collins Children’s Theatre will present “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, June 20, and noon Sunday, June 21, at the Lincoln Center, 417 W. Magnolia.

Caractacus Potts, along with his children, rescues a broken-down race car from a junkyard and turns it into a magical machine that can float and fly. The family, joined by Truly Scrumptious, embarks on a high-flying adventure to a foreign land (Vulgaria) to escape the evil Baron Bomburst, who wants the car for himself. The show emphasizes family love, the power of imagination, and ingenuity.
