The Call the Midwife Season 15 premiere date has been revealed. The 2025 Christmas specials are coming first, but the new season won’t be far behind in the new year.

Call the Midwife Season 14 concluded on Sunday, May 18, bringing with it new weddings and new babies among the Nonnatus House community. The beloved series was renewed through Season 15 back in 2023 and for Season 16 in May 2025. But when does Call the Midwife Season 15 premiere in the U.S. on PBS?

Call the Midwife Season 15 premieres on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 8/7c on PBS, PBS.org, and the PBS app, but there are a couple of dates to be aware of. Beginning on Thursday, January 22, fans can rewatch and binge Season 14 with PBS Passport. For those who watch the new seasons exclusively on streaming platforms, not on the PBS linear channel, Season 15 will be available starting on Friday, February 20, with weekly episodes on PBS Passport.

The new season kicks off in 1971 as several of the ladies embrace Women’s Lib and burn their bras outside Nonnatus House. How did Call the Midwife Season 14 end?

The Season 14 finale kicked off with Nancy (Megan Cusack) and Roger (Conor O’Donnell) returning to Poplar for their wedding. But their lodging plans at Nonnatus House got changed when a fire prompted a group of mothers and babies to stay with the nuns and nurses. Nancy and her daughter, Collette (Francesca Fullilove), were welcomed to stay with Miss Higgins (Georgie Glen). A wedding dress fitting prompted Nancy to reveal that she was 7 months pregnant. Nancy was nervous about how the nuns would feel about her being pregnant before she was married, and she also had yet to reveal the baby news to Collette. Nancy and Roger eventually told her the news, and she was ultimately excited to become a big sister.

Out on another job, Sister Veronica noticed the romantic connection between Rosalind (Natalie Quarry) and Cyril (Zephryn Taitte), whose blooming relationship was first teased in the Season 14 premiere. Trixie (Helen George), meanwhile, was on her way to America to be a bridesmaid in Matthew’s friend’s wedding.

The morning after Nancy’s hen night, she woke up feeling ill. Phyllis (Linda Bassett) worried that Nancy might’ve been more than 7 months along in her pregnancy. Paula, the pregnant teen whom Rosalind’s been looking after all season, gave birth in the finale, and thankfully, her mother had a change of heart and welcomed her daughter back home. The baby was put up for adoption so Paula could return to her childhood. Nancy also gave birth to her and Roger’s daughter, whom they named Melinda, in the back of an ambulance. Later, as their wedding ended, Cyril kissed Rosalind for the first time in the thrill of the moment, making for a happy ending for the Nonnatus House family.

What is the Call the Midwife prequel series?

BBC is making a Call the Midwife prequel TV series set during World War II and showing a different side of Poplar during the Blitz. According to showrunner Heidi Thomas, the series will “delve into the deeper past” of Poplar, and there will be “some familiar (if much younger) faces” in the cast, meaning that fans will see current Call the Midwife characters when they were younger and in a very formative period of their lives.

Thomas told BBC that she’s been “yearning to delve into the deeper past” lives of these women in Poplar beyond what is seen throughout the show’s setting of the 1950s-1970s. “The Blitz years in the East End were extraordinary — filled with loss, togetherness, courage, and joy,” she added.

What is the Call the Midwife movie?

The Call the Midwife movie will feature the cast of the main series. set in 1972. The film will feature characters from the original series. The location of the film is so far undisclosed, but Thomas told BBC that the Nonnatus House group will “take a short break from Poplar and test themselves in an unfamiliar landscape.” The showrunner said the location is “top secret” but will look “absolutely fantastic” on a movie screen.

Executive producer Dame Pippa Harris told BBC that the spinoff and film were partly inspired by wanting to create stories for the “new, younger generation” of Call the Midwife viewers, “who have also fallen in love with our characters and the challenges they face.”
