Entertainment writer Ed Balint rattles off fun things to do as summer heats up in the Canton area.
1. The Country Fest
The Country Fest will run June 17-20 at Clay’s Resort Jellystone Park near Canal Fulton.
Headliners are Jordan Davis on June 17; Treaty Oak Revival, June 18; Zach Top, June 19; and Kane Brown June 20.
Also performing are Shane Profitt, Wyatt Flores, Corey Kent, Brantley Gilbert, John Morgan, Braxton Keith, Chase Matthew, Tyler Nance, Emily Ann Roberts and Lanie Gardner.

2. Juneteeth Festival
The Juneteenth Community Festival will be June 20-21 at Nimisilla Park in Canton.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 20 and noon to 6 p.m. June 21. Nimisilla Park is at 1075 O’Jays Parkway NE near 12th Street.
The event features musical performances, vendors, a play area for kids and community organizations.
United Boxing Club will present “Fist of Freedom,” a free amateur boxing show on June 20. Fights begin at 1 p.m. The community boxing event is sanctioned by USA Boxing.
3. ‘The Lost Boys’ in downtown Canton
The ’80s cult classic movie “The Lost Boys” will be shown June 20 on the patio of Mike’s Pizza in downtown Canton as part of The Fourth Street Cinema Club.
Mike’s Pizza is at 328 Walnut Ave. NE in the same building as Deli Ohio and Woodshop brewing.
Tickets cost $10. Pizza and drinks will be available for purchase. The event is 8 to 10 p.m.
4. Deaf-A-Palooza
Deaf-A-Palooza will be June 19-20 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium at Hall of Fame Village in Canton.
The event brings together the deaf and hard of hearing individuals, ASL users, interpreters, allies and the broader community for live performances with ASL interpretation, cultural programming, artists, vendors, workshops, exhibitors, inflatables, carnival games, a cornhole tournament, educational opportunities, food and more.
The free portion of Deaf-A-Palooza runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 19-20. Evening entertainment will be ticketed at Zimmermann Symphony Center at McKinley High School next to Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.

Performers, including hip-hop and rap artists, are deaf and/or hard of hearing. Performances will be visual and interpreted, and all audiences are welcome, TRIAD Deaf Services said.
5. ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’
Waterford Players will present “Jesus Christ Superstar” June 19-21 in Tuscarawas County.
Performances will be 7 p.m. June 19-20 and 3 p.m. June 21.
Shows will be on the third floor of the Dennison Village Building at 302 Grant St. in Dennison.
Tickets cost $20 and are general admission. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/jesus-christ-superstar.
6. 720 Market in Massillon
The 720 MKT will be June 20 in Massillon.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Duncan Plaza, 151 Lincoln Way E in downtown Massillon, next to Massillon Museum.
The free event features vendors, bakers, makers, brewers and growers.
Vendors include Paradigm Shift Brewery and Cherry Road Winery. Food trucks also will be on site. There’s also live music, including Hunter Skeens and the Forerunners at 1 p.m.
7. Massillon Museum concert on the lawn
BADJR will perform a free concert on the lawn of Massillon Museum from 6 to 8 p.m. June 20 as part of the Rhythms Concert Series.
BADJR is described as a “captivating original-music combo” comprised of area musicians Bethany Joy, Anthony Papaleo, Dan Socha, Josee McGee and Ray Flanagan.
A cash bar will be available. Massillon Museum is at 121 Lincoln Way E in downtown Massillon.
8. ‘The Missing Case of Lady Abernathy’ in Doylestown
Blue Macaroon Theater Co. in Doylestown will present “The Missing Case of Lady Abernathy” June 19-21.
The show is part of the Blue Macaroon Incubator Series, which features productions spotlighting new playwrights and directors. “The Missing Case of Lady Abernathy” is an original play written and directed by T.R. Collins.
Performances will be 7 p.m. June 19-20, and 2 p.m. June 21. The June 19 show is sold out. Blue Macaroon Theater is at 84½ N. Portage St. in Doylestown in Wayne County.

9. Jackson Township Community Celebration
The Jackson Township Community Celebration will be June 24-27 around the Nash Family Jackson Amphitheater in North Park.
Music, rides, food, inflatables, games,and a craft and merch market will be among the attractions.
Hours will be 6 to 11 p.m. June 24-25; 5 to 11 p.m. June 26; and 3 to 11 p.m. June 27.
10. Hosner Gallery market
Hosner Gallery will host an indoor/outdoor market from 3 to 6 p.m. June 20 at 7997 Hills and Dales Road NE in Massillon.
Local products will be available, including apparel, handmade crafts, baked goods, produce and honey. Both permanent and new vendors will be represented. Food trucks also will be on site.
