Cardi B announced on live TV that she is expecting her fourth child which marks her first with her NFL star boyfriend Stefon Diggs.
The 32-year-old rapper revealed the news in an interview on CBS Mornings and is due to give birth before her tour gets underway in February.
“I’m having a baby with my boyfriend, Stefon Diggs,” Cardi B told anchor Gayle King, in a pre-taped interview.
Cardi, born Belcalis Almanzar, responded to King’s messages of congratulations by expressing her thanks and shared: “I’m excited.”
“I’m happy,” she said.
“I feel like I’m in a good space. I feel very strong, very powerful that I’m doing all this work, but I’m doing all this work while I’m creating a baby.”
Her pregnancy comes as Cardi gears up to release her new album, Am I the Drama? on September 19.
Cardi has yet to reveal the track list for the record, but it is set to feature plenty of collaborations with the likes of Janet Jackson, Selena Gomez and Lizzo.
Cardi said Diggs, a 31-year-old wide receiver for the New England Patriots, makes her feel “safe” emotionally and physically.
“You see how big he is,” she told King.
“He just makes me feel safe and very confident and very strong.
“Two weeks ago, I was literally having a panic attack. I was like crying and crying and crying, just because I was getting really nervous with the whole album rollout. People were coming at me very hard; you know, sometimes people love you, people hate you. And people was just saying very mean things about me.”
“I was like, ‘See, this is why I don’t put music out?’ This is my art and something I put a lot of time into, and it’s just like sometimes, when people just rip it apart, it just hurts you and it crushes you. And he was just like, ‘Girl, you better get it together.’ … I feel like feeling safe, feeling confident, it makes you feel like you can take over the world.”
Cardi B and Diggs have been linked since October last year.
In May, the pair made their first public appearance together at a Boston Celtics and New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden, after months of attending the same events, but arriving separately.
Diggs is already a father to an eight-year-old daughter named Nova.As for Cardi B, she shares three children with her estranged husband and rapper Offset.
The former couple are parents to seven-year-old daughter Kulture Kiari, four-year-old son Wave Set, and daughter Blossom Belle, whom they welcomed in September last year.
