Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman started dating in 1998, then later that year married in Las Vegas. The relationship got a lot of attention, but it was short-lived. The Chicago Bulls player and Baywatch star got divorced the following year, and Electra revealed what inspired her to leave.

Electra, 54, revisited the relationship on a podcast, Legally Goff on May 27. “We had a lot of fun together,” she said. “That was my favorite part of being around Dennis. But, you know, we only get to see the part of Dennis that the the media lets us see, right?”

The actress said she was drinking a lot during that time and wanted to change. “And a friend gave me a really good book and it was like a self-help book and I started reading the book and I liked it,” she said. “So I went to the store … and I’d grab another book and I’d start sitting there and I just thought, ‘I got to get away from him because what good is going to come out of this,’ you know?”
The actress revealed she had unwanted attention for the high-profile relationship. Her “craziest” fan worked in the firearm department of her show’s production company. He wrote a note to her declaring she was his wife and planned to kill her for marrying Rodman. The man was arrested, and her security was alerted when he was released.
Electra isn’t publicly in a new relationship, and wouldn’t repeat her past decisions. She said at the end of the interview that she would tell her daughter to “drop that zero” if she brought home a man like Rodman.
