Brian Wilson‘s legacy remains as powerful as ever, his daughter Carnie Wilson shared in a recent interview with Kelly Clarkson.
The entertainer discussed her father’s body of work during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. She reflected on Brian’s impact in the music business and his lasting influence on generations of artists and fans.
“His music, the Beach Boys‘ music, will live on forever,” Wilson stated. “We can enjoy this [music] for centuries to come.”
She added, “I am so proud to be a part of that legacy. Not a day goes by without a reminder of it.”

“From hearing it or someone saying something to me,” Wilson added. “Its always there.”
In an interview with Billy Corgan for his podcast The Magnificent Others, Wilson added another perspective about Brian’s spiritual songwriting, revealing it was a gift.
“He doesn’t know where it came from,” Wilson told Corgan. “I asked him one time, ‘How did you write ‘God Only Knows?’ How did you write these melodies, or how did you write the song?”
She continued, “He said, ‘I didn’t write it, God did.’ He’s extremely spiritual. I don’t know what God it is but it’s his own God.”

The Beach Boys recently celebrated the 60th anniversary of their watershed LP, Pet Sounds. The landmark album remains widely regarded as one of the most influential records ever made.
In May 2026, the band’s remaining trio of original members, Mike Love, Al Jardine and Bruce Johnston, celebrated the special anniversary.
To PEOPLE Magazine, Love discussed the songs that would eventually appear on Pet Sounds, “I thought what he’d done was brilliant. The tracks were amazing. I was thinking, ‘How did he come up with that?’ It’s genius, I would say.”
Johnston added, “Carl [Wilson] said, ‘Start coming to the studio while he’s making tracks.’ So I took my girlfriend to the studio and of course they’re recording ‘God Only Knows.’ I went, “Ahhhh!”
