DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba walked down memory lane with a throwback Instagram post featuring late judge Len Goodman, who died in April 2023 from bone cancer.
As Dancing With the Stars gears up for a brand-new season, Carrie Ann Inaba is taking a trip down memory lane.
Season 34 of the hit series is set to air on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 on ABC and Disney+, and fans are eager to see the latest group of contestants vying for the top prize. But it’s hard to forget the presence of late head judge Len Goodman, who died in April 2023 from bone cancer at age 78. While DWTS has paid tribute to his legacy with the coveted Mirrorball Trophy being named after him, Carrie Ann got the chance to remember him in a way fans didn’t expect.
As Carrie Ann looked back at DWTS’20 years on the air ahead of the season 34 premiere, she posted a promotional image of her, Len and fellow co-judge Bruno Tonioli from the first season on Instagram. Reflecting on what the show has meant to her over the last two decades, she expressed her gratitude for the fans’ support to the trio throughout their time on the show.
“Look what I found. 👀 Len Goodman, @brunotonioliofficial and I, in our very first press photos for @dancingwiththestars,” she wrote in the caption on August 29. “We were just babies. (And I still love a good v neck and a hoop earring.) lol. It’s incredible to think that 20 years have gone by. Thank you so much to ALL OF YOU – our #DWTSFAMILY. We love you. And we are grateful for you. And I hope we make you smile this season and give you joy and inspire you this Season 34.”
“So much has changed over the years, but the heart of this show has stayed the same,” she added. “Children have grown up watching us, and we’ve lost friends and family members along the way. But we are still going strong. And that’s because we are one big dancing family. ❤️.”
When fans saw how Carrie Ann sweetly included Len in her walk down memory lane for Dancing With the Stars, many voiced how Len’s presence continues to be felt after his death.
“Incredible!! The best dance family ❤️❤️❤️,” one person wrote in the comments. “What a wonderful memory since day one. Miss seeing Len on DWTS. ❤️,” another penned. “🥰 Precious! Len is still and will always remain in our 💕,” a different follower added.
As fans know, Len actually left DWTS after season 31 concluded in December 2022. Additionally, Derek Hough had already been part of the judges’ panel since season 29 in 2020, and he continues to be part of the group as new installments air on ABC and Disney+.
We’ll always remember Len and his legacy on Dancing With the Stars.
