Carrie Underwood shared a patriotic post on Instagram last week that received a mixed reaction from followers.
The American Idol judge posted a video of herself driving by a long fence decorated with hundreds of American flags. According to the Daily Express, the display was put on by Semler Cattle Company, which is located near Underwood’s home in Tennessee.
“I can’t believe I get to live here. Thank you, Lord. #GodBlessAmerica #Grateful #TN,” the country singer captioned the June 18 post.
However, not everyone was feeling quite as patriotic as Underwood, especially at a time of deep political divisions across the country. Some fans took to the comments to share their frustrations with the post.
“Wow Americans sure know how to shove patriotism down your throat……. That’s a lot,” wrote one commenter.
“Where is this?? Seems a bit much lol in any county the with any flag. Just my opinion,” said another.
“F** her. She’s maga,” another added.
Another wrote, “She’s definitely MAGA.”
“Performative patriotism,” said one commenter.
“How pathetic of you to put up American flags while you support a traitor,” wrote another.
“Fake patriotism is measured in ammount of decorations on holidays,” another added.
“In a world of Carrie Underwood’s, be a Kelly Clarkson,” said one person.
There were many more, though, who praised Underwood for her post, including one user who wrote, “Thanks for sharing. Love our nation.”
“Thank you, Carrie Underwood for being such a patriot thank you to your boys teaching them to be proud of America and your husband,” said another.
“A beautiful display of patriotism. Thank you,” another added.

Another called out the critics, writing, “How do people get confused over a post showing her loving our nation and patriotism? This is NOT political and if it is that’s her right, just like it’s yours to not worry about others.”
“What a glorious sight! Thank you for sharing. How lucky we are to live in this beautiful country!” wrote one commenter.
Underwood previously received backlash when it was announced she’d perform “America the Beautiful” at Donald Trump‘s Inauguration in January 2025. At the time, she defended her choice to sing at the event.
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” she stated. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
