Carson Daly says his “only reservation” when it comes to his kids dating is that they don’t date someone who is vegan or a picky eater.
He explained that it would “suck” if one of his kids’ partners couldn’t eat anything when they had family dinner together, adding, “I would just be like, ‘He’s a loser. Dump him.’”
The Today cohost clarified that the dealbreaker does not extend to people with food allergies because “I don’t wish illness on boyfriends!”
Carson Daly is spilling the beans on the one dating requirement that he has for his four children.
The 52-year-old Today cohost revealed what he considers to be the ultimate dealbreaker on Monday’s episode of Today With Jenna and Sheinelle. The topic came up as part of a conversation with Jenna Bush Hager about Kylie Kelce’s recent reveal that she would never let her children date a Dallas Cowboys fan.
“The only reservation I would have for my kids would be, like, a vegan or something like that maybe…” Daly said, prompting a group of producers offscreen to burst into loud laughter.

Turning toward them, the TV personality placed his hands over his mouth and added, “Is that bad to say? Am I gonna get canceled for that?”
Hager immediately had questions, asking Daly if he just wanted his kids’ prospective partners to be able to eat meat.
“Yeah, I mean, look at me!” Daly replied as he waved his hands down his torso.
“Food is, like, a really important part of, like, the fabric of our family. If we didn’t have food, I wouldn’t talk to my wife about anything. It holds us together,” he said. “So if one of them brought home a date who was super picky. Like, ‘I don’t eat anything — fish from the sea, cows that go moo.’ Like, I’ve got a Traeger [smoker], bro.”
Daly quickly clarified that his disdain for picky eaters does not extend to people with food allergies.
“I’m not the devil!” he exclaimed. “I don’t wish illness on boyfriends!”
Still, he continued, “I’m just saying it would suck if they came into the house on a Sunday, and we were going do like a big Daly feast, we make pizzas, and they were like, ‘I can’t eat anything.’ I would just be like, ‘He’s a loser. Dump him.’”

Bush Hager, in turn, warned Daly that it’s important to keep his thoughts on his kids’ future dates to himself because it may end up actually bringing them and their partner closer together.
“I don’t think I can hold it in,” he admitted. “Don’t let the door hit you on the butt on the way out.”
Daly and his wife Siri Pinter, who is a chef herself, share four children together: Jackson, 17; Etta, 13; London, 11; and Goldie, 6. Earlier in the broadcast, he revealed that he’s already trying to prepare himself mentally — and physically — for his eldest heading off to school next year.
“I’m looking for real estate around the university,” he teased. “‘Buddy, we’re gonna get a sick apartment here. I’m going to hang out. It’s gonna be great.’ In my mind, I’m going with him to college. The reality hasn’t hit yet.”
