Six women. One common denominator — being married to Henry VIII. Bend the historical timeline, add a pop music soundtrack, and you’ve got “Six: Teen Edition,” performed by ACT! for Youth for two more shows this weekend.
Shows will be at 6 and 9 p.m. Saturday at the Edna Boykin Cultural Center.
Tickets are available for $15 at www.wilsonarts.com/afytickets and $20 at the door for adults and $10 for seniors and students.
The show is a full-length adaptation of “Six the Musical,” which won the 2022 Tony Award for Best Original Score.
The show begins with the six queens introducing themselves in order of their marriages to Henry VIII. The queens then tell the audience that the show will feature a competition — in song — between the women, and the winner will be based on who had the worst experience with the king.
The production evolves into a pop music celebration of female empowerment, focusing on sisterhood and recovering their identities.
Bringing the Queens to life in “Six: Teen Edition” are Hailey Matthews, Lydia Denton, Ozzy Barnes, Adelyn Barry, Livvy Matthews and Jahiliyyah Hewitt.
