A cause of death has been revealed for 35-year-old former child actor Daveigh Chase, known for her roles in “Lilo & Stitch” and “The Ring.”
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner indicated Chase’s cause of death was acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) with chronic polysubstance use, taking more than one drug at the same time, listed under other significant conditions.
Chase died June 16 at a hospital, her father said in a text message to NBC News. Chase, who starred in Disney’s hit movie “Lilo & Stitch” in 2002 as the voice of Lilo, had been homeless and living in Los Angeles near the hospital, her father said.
Chase also had roles in the TV adaptation of the film from 2003 to 2006.
She also had roles in “ER,” “Charmed,” “The Practice” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.”
In 2002’s horror film “The Ring” about a cursed VHS tape, Chase portrayed the child ghost Samara. She won a MTV Movie Award for Best Villain and reprised the role in 2005’s “The Ring Two.”
