STATELINE, Nev. – Arc Boats has created a 19th hole at the American Century Championship, featuring a floating golf challenge that combines electric boating technology, golf, and conservation.
Taking place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. each event day on Lake Tahoe and visible from Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course’s lakeside hole 17, the challenge is available to both celebrities and the public. Those who accept the challenge tee off from an all-electric Arc Sport boat towards a 10-foot by 15-foot floating green island.
“The experience is designed to celebrate Lake Tahoe, create unforgettable moments on the water during one of the lake’s most visible weeks of the year,” Rachel Rogers, spokesperson for Arc, said.
So far, Austin Keen, Logan Lisle and Matt Lisle have taken a swing, and the weekend is just getting started, Rogers said.
For every hole-in-one, Arc Boats is donating $1,000 to the Tahoe Fund.
“Multiple people have landed on the green,” said Rogers, “but no hole-in-ones so far. It’s just the beginning, and we’re excited for the weekend and more people to get out there.”
The floating green is about 50 feet from the Arc boat’s swim platform, where participants tee off.
Should players miss the green entirely, caddies on paddleboards retrieve the floating balls after each hit.
“Arc is about creating unforgettable moments on the water. Boating should be fun, memorable, something people want to do again and again,” Rogers said, “and the technology we build exists to make that possible.”
Some of that technology is on display at this 19th hole. For example, the Arc Sport, Arc’s flagship wake sport boat, is equipped with station-keeping technology that allows the boat to maintain a fixed position on the water without an anchor, drift, or manual correction.
The helm also features video recording capabilities to capture all the action the boat provides.
Anyone interested in taking a swing on the 19th hole can register on-site at the Arc Experience located just offshore of Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.
Pick-up for the challenge is at the Timber Cove Marina outside the tournament grounds.
