Chappell Roan‘s latest costume design has been likened to gothic villains and vampires, and even the dragon from Shrek, proving once again that her artistry goes beyond just her music.

The “Good Luck, Babe” singer headlined the 2025 Reading Festival in England over the weekend, where she performed in front of 90,000 fans, who were all loudly singing her Grammy-winning songs. Roan’s success over the last year alone has been astronomical, and as a BBC reporter put it, she was “playing small, club-level shows” just last fall in England. Roan has since returned to the U.K. and is bringing in droves of fans who come to see her awe-inspiring sets and costumes that match her drag queen aesthetic.

On Friday, Roan took the stage in yet another jaw-dropping outfit that generally surrounds a theme. This weekend’s look seemed to channel vampires and bats — and would fit right in with Netflix’s Wednesday. At first, Roan came onto stage wearing a long, cloaked jacket that could be seen on the likes of Maleficent or another cartoon villain. The purple and maroon coat was made of different materials, including velvet and satin. At one point, she also wore a bat fascinator and held a matching staff.

Why Chappell Roan’s Next Album May Not Be Here Until 2030

The star got candid about the inner workings of her sophomore album to celebrate the release of “The Subway.”

Chappell Roan has worked closely with her longtime stylist, Genesis Webb, on elaborate and custom-made costumes both on stage and at major events and music videos. Webb’s most recent work was featured in Roan’s music video for the single, “The Subway,” which featured major hair transformations and oversized suits. Designers James Nguyen and Alexander Cole previously created her butterfly-esque costumes at Primavera Sound, which were inspired by “the whimsy of 19th-century pantomime illustrations.”

While it’s unclear if Nguyen and Cole were behind the vampire/ villain look, the gorgeous set came off in three parts: from a long coat, to a corseted outfit with dramatic sleeves, down to a bra top, high-waisted underwear, and tights.

Chappell Roan went through her discography with sweet shout outs to her fans throughout. “Thank you for loving me and standing with me,” she said, according to the BBC. “This is a dream come true, seriously.” Before playing her song, “My Kink is Karma,” Roan said, “I dedicate this song to my ex… Who is in the crowd tonight.”

Roan is set to continue her tour of performances, eventually making her way back to New York City and continuing on to her home state of Missouri and beyond.
