In the wake of the horrific killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday while he was speaking at Utah Valley University, his fans have checked in on his wife, Erika, on social media.
And … well, here last post involving Charlie was simply heartbreaking.
The couple have two children, a daughter who was born in 2022 and a son who was born in May of 2024. And, on Sept. 5, Erika shared a post to her Instagram going back over the birth of their second child. It was titled, “Second Baby; Deeper Grace; 10 Things I did different this postpartum.”
It included a carousel of videos, one of which showed Charlie laying on a portable memory foam cot at their care facility. Erika said she bought him the bed for the occasion.
“Do you like your cot?” Erika asked Charlie in the video.
“Loved the cot,” he said smiling. “I have a great wife.”
Followers of Charlie and Erika were quick to reply to that post Wednesday with love and support.
“Sending you all the prayers mama,” one person wrote. “I’m so sorry.”
“I can’t sleep,” another wrote. “Taking it as the lord giving me opportunity to pray for you.”
There were plenty more replies like that and you can see them here.
It was a cute interaction between the couple, and the last shared by Erika prior to his death.
For those that scroll back just a bit on the Instagram page, too, there’s a heartbreaking photo of Kirk sitting on the beach with his daughter. He posted the photo and tagged Erika in it .
“Happy birthday to our incredible daughter,” he wrote alongside the picture which was shared just two weeks ago. “Teaching her to know God, alongside (Erika), is the greatest privilege. Having a family will change your life in the best ways, so get married and have kids. You won’t regret it.”
