Chrissy Teigen has expressed her belief that Meghan Markle is ‘deeply misunderstood’, while discussing their friendship.
The American model shared her insights into what the Duchess is truly like behind closed doors, stating that the public’s perception of the former Suits actress is far from reality.
She admitted to struggling with understanding the intense scrutiny the ex-working Royal faces.
Having appeared on the second season of Meghan’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan and Chrissy voiced their admiration for the duchess, whom they consider “incredibly strong”. She also questioned why the Duchess has become such a “polarizing” and contentious figure.
Chrissy, who previously worked alongside Meghan as a ‘briefcase girl’ on Deal or No Deal, has maintained a close relationship with the Duchess. She praised Meghan’s ability to brush off the criticism directed at her.
She said: “I think it’s cool that [Meghan] is just like, ‘Listen, say whatever you want. I’m happy and I’m healthy and I feel good’.”
Chrissy did not appear on season one of Meghan’s TV show; she did appear on an episode of season two. The episode showed the two women sharing plenty of laughs together, especially as they made jewelry featuring flowers representing their children’s birth months.
Some viewers were left fuming by Chrissy’s inclusion after she previously admitted to sending horrible messages. It had been alleged that Chrissy sent the TV personality Courtney Stodden messages on X urging them to take their own life.
At the time, Chrissy issued a statement where she said: “Not a lot of people are lucky enough to be held accountable for all their past comments in front of the entire world. I’m mortified and sad at who I used to be.
“I was an insecure, attention-seeking troll. I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behavior but that is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel.”
During the program, Meghan did some crafts with Chrissy to celebrate their children’s birthdays.
Meghan also discussed her struggles with being away from her kids. In a separate episode, she said, “I’ll miss them so much [when they leave home]. You want to be the parent who’s like Yes, go do it. Go do your thing. Go live that life. But I’m going to miss you so much.”
However, certain fans expressed displeasure at seeing Chrissy featured on the program.
“Meghan Markle hanging out with Chrissy Teigen makes absolute sense to me,” one viewer wrote, with another adding: “How can Meghan Markle associate with Chrissy Teigen…, a self-confessed online bully and troll, when she purports to support the Parents Network, who are campaigning against this very thing?”.
Chrissy previously publicly apologized on social media in 2021, stating she was “completely embarrassed” by her conduct following her harassment of reality personality Courtney Stodden in 2011.
