Christie Brinkley is not afraid of aging.
The supermodel, 72, shared her perspective on getting older in an interview with Social Life for the magazine’s latest cover story. While speaking with Social Life editor Devorah Rose, Brinkley said that she’s found “freedom” with age.
“I think that with age you get … freer,” she said. “You do what you wanna do when you wanna do it. I think that there’s a freedom that comes with age that’s quite wonderful. You don’t really care what anybody thinks about your outfit anymore.”
She continued, “You know what you like. You know what you don’t like. And you don’t feel like you have to put up with the stuff that you don’t like anymore.”

Brinkley added that she has always had gratitude even throughout “a million ups and downs, highs and lows, tragedies and scandals and all of the above.”
“I’ve always been grateful for wherever I am in the moment,” she said. “I always say that I’m happiest in the moment.”
Brinkley also shared what she loves about her modeling career 50 years in.
“I’ve loved modeling for over 50 years now because it’s always different every day,” she explained. “A different group of people, a different kind of job.”

Ahead of her 70th birthday, Brinkley spoke to PEOPLE about why she embraces wrinkles.
“I want to accept certain wrinkles,” she said. “That’s the way I’m approaching aging.”
She continued, “Sometimes when people get older, and they overdo it, they can look waxy and — I don’t know what the word is — preserved or something. I want a little life to show on my face, you know?”
While Brinkley said she had gotten Botox in the past, she admits that injectables aren’t for her.
“I’ve Botoxed my forehead two times. It did look smooth as could be but the first time it gave me a droopy eyebrow,” she recalled.
The model shared that once in a while, she gets an injectable to smooth other lines around her mouth: “But probably just once in a year, as opposed to back in the day when I would go in several times during the year to say, ‘Make sure fix this or fix that.’ “
But more recently, she said, “I’m kind of more comfortable just letting it be.”
