Tom Holland, who will play Telemachus in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, has named the “best script” he has ever read, and it’s not any of the Marvel movies he has been part of over the years. Notably, Holland portrays Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He debuted in the franchise in Captain America: Civil War and went on to appear in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, besides being the star of the three solo movies centered around his character.

In a recent interview with Agence France-Presse (via France 24), Holland praised Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey. “The script is the best script I’ve ever read,” the 29-year-old actor said. Holland’s comment comes nearly a month after the movie wrapped production. The actor’s next project, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has since begun filming.
Holland called Nolan “a real collaborator.” He then elaborated, “He [Nolan] knows what he wants… but it is not an environment where you can’t pitch ideas or build characters in certain ways.”
The Odyssey is an adaptation of Homer’s epic poem of the same name. Its logline reads, “Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, embarks on a long and perilous journey home following the Trojan War, chronicling his encounters with mythical beings such as the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, and the witch-goddess Circe.”
The cast includes Matt Damon as Odysseus, Charlize Theron as Circe, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Robert Pattinson.
Universal Pictures revealed that Nolan’s next movie after the multi-Oscar-winning Oppenheimer (2023) would be The Odyssey in December last year. Production began in February 2025.
The Odyssey is scheduled to come out in U.S. theaters in IMAX, IMAX 70 mm film, and other formats on July 17, 2026.
