CANNON BEACH — The Coaster Theatre has scheduled auditions for its first show of the 2026 season.
“Red,” a play about artists, will be directed by Katherine Lacaze and performed Jan. 30 through Feb. 22.
Auditions for the two roles will be held at the theater, 108 N. Hemlock St., in Cannon Beach, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2 and Dec. 3.
Set in the 1950s, the play calls for an actor aged 50 or older to portray abstract expressionist Mark Rothko, who emigrates from Latvia to the United States, and his younger assistant, in his 20s or 30s, who have deep philosophical conversations about art and personal struggles. The director is open to the older character being portrayed by a non-male actor.
