CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The College of Charleston’s Department of Theatre and Dance’s CofC Stages is set to present its annual fall dance concert this month.
Across the Horizon at the Sottile Theatre will feature choreography from faculty and guest artists, exploring the spaces out of sight and an array of different dance styles, including jazz, tap, classical and contemporary ballet, African dance, and modern works.
Some of the featured guests include New York–based tap artist Dani Barrett and Sandella Malloy of Harambee Dance Company. Two new works will highlight the College’s School of the Arts faculty: Dean Jayme Klinger in “Transcendence” and Kristin Alexander in a modern piece set to Edward Hart’s ” Under an Indigo Sky: I. Fast Flowing Rivers.”
Guests can purchase tickets online at go.charleston.edu/nowplaying or contact the George Street Box Office at [email protected] or (843) 953-4726 for Saturday, November 22, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 23, at 2 p.m.
“The work in this concert is dynamic, emotional, musical, and technically challenging. It’s also an incredible showcase of our design-production faculty, staff, students and alumni, with nearly every piece featuring advanced elements of costuming, lighting, scenic design or projection. Collaboration is a cornerstone of the arts, and for a concert that invites us to imagine what lies beyond, it feels especially fitting that so much of the creative work will come together in the theatre,” Artistic Director Kristin Alexander.
