Collin Gosselin shared a sweet birthday tribute to his “real mom” hours after announcing his upcoming memoir — but it wasn’t to Kate Gosselin.
“I didn’t plan this at all, but coincidentally on the day of the official announcement of my book, it is Colleen’s birthday,” Collin, 22, shared via Instagram alongside a photo with Colleen Conrad, his father’s ex-girlfriend, on Wednesday, June 17.
He added, “She is the strongest woman I know, who stepped in at the toughest part of my life and CHOSE to be a mother to me. Happy birthday to my wonderful, hardworking, passionate, and I could go on… to my real mom ❤️ I love you so much.”
Despite splitting from Jon Gosselin in 2021, Colleen and Collin remained close — with the teenager living with Conrad until he turned 18.
“I’ll always be here for you and you are my son. I love you!” she responded to his birthday tribute.
“The love you feel for a mom you were given is incredible. But the love you feel for a mom that CHOSE you is something so powerful,” Collin continued. “I am so fortunate ❤️ [Colleen Conrad] I love you so much.”

Collin has been estranged from his mother, Kate, since he was a teenager. Hours before his tribute to Colleen, Collin announced his upcoming tell-all, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood.
“Growing up, millions of people watched my life on television. People felt like they knew me. They knew my family. They watched me grow up. But there was so much they never saw,” he revealed.
The book is due out on October 13.
