Colman Domingo is the latest star to appear in a Sabrina Carpenter music video.
On Aug. 29, Carpenter dropped the music video for her new song “Tears.” Just minutes before the video came out, Domingo wrote on X, “About to break the internet. Tears. Protect all the Dolls.”
His prediction quickly came true.
Seemingly an homage to “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” the music video opens with Carpenter entering a secluded house and dancing alongside Domingo, who is dressed in full drag.
At one point in the video, Carpenter stops singing for a dance break with Domingo. And as she sings the NSFW song, Carpenter gradually sheds her initial buttoned-up costume for lingerie, seemingly a nod to the theme of sexual liberation in “Rocky Horror.”
Then, at the end of the video, Carpenter’s character kills her boyfriend to please her fans.
“It’s a thing. Someone has to die every video. Sorry! We’ll always remember you, though,” she says before throwing her high heels and impaling his chest.
“He was a nice one, too,” she adds. “You have to give the people what they want.”
Online, fans said they couldn’t get enough of the video.
“Colman Domingo and Sabrina Carpenter are the pairing we never knew we needed, and yet they are instantly iconic,” one person said.
Another wrote, “Love how Sabrina is bringing back CINEMATIC MUSIC VIDEOS this is like a short MOVIE for real.”
A third added, “Having colman domingo in drag and being inspired by the rocky horror picture show oh sabrina you delivered greatness.”
After the video dropped, Domingo shared a clip of his dance break with Carpenter on X and said, “Didn’t see that coming did ya? Thank you Sabs for inviting me to truly play.”
On Instagram, Domingo shared pictures of some of the looks he wore in the video. He added in the caption, “When @sabrinacarpenter calls, you play. #tears #mansbestfriend.”
