BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – Concert season is back, and we’re not just talking about the Bangor Waterfront!
Many communities are hosting their own series of free-to-attend live music this summer!
Bangor Public Library has their Summer Music Series every Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
The library typically hosts the concerts outside in front of the Atrium. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets.
“It’s just a great way to welcome the community to the library, enjoy the great weather downtown, and also to say thank you to our library supporters,” describes Candis Joyce, Bangor Public Library’s adult programming & exhibits coordinator, about the long-running annual tradition.
Due to current construction on the beach and one parking lot, organizers say parking will be limited. Chairs and blankets are also recommended.
For organizers of all these concerts, they say it’s about bringing community members together with fun, fresh air and great local music!
“It’s a way for them to socialize, friends and family, and not really have to dig into their pockets to do so,” Director of Glenburn Parks & Recreation Carey Besse says of the importance of free community fun.
For Maddy Gernhard, adult services & circulation coordinator at Orono Public Library, these concerts act as an amplifer for local musicians: “It’s great to continue this because it’s an incredible way to showcase some of our local talents. We have a lot of incredible bands in the area, and it’s just great to have everyone come out and be a part of the community and enjoy some live music together.”
Due to the heat, Tuesday’s concert at the Bangor Public Library has been moved to the third floor lecture hall.
