Despite unhealthy air quality, a major outdoor concert Tuesday night in Boise is still a go — for the time being.
Bluesy rockers Alabama Shakes are scheduled to perform at Outlaw Field at the Idaho Botanical Garden with guests Billy Allen + the Pollies. And although some outdoor activities in the Treasure Valley are being canceled or moved indoors because of smoke caused by Oregon wildfires, Outlaw Field remains on schedule for now.
“We are actively monitoring air quality conditions in coordination with local authorities and the artist’s team,” promoter Knitting Factory Entertainment announced Monday afternoon in an “air quality update” about the Alabama Shakes show. “All decisions regarding the event are being made with safety as the top priority, and we will continue to assess conditions closely through today and tomorrow.
“As an added precaution, complimentary masks will be available for all guests at the venue. We encourage everyone to stay informed by relying on our official channels, including our website, verified social media accounts, and email communications, for the most accurate and timely updates. We look forward to welcoming you safely to the show.”
Smoky conditions could hang around Boise all week, experts say. If that’s the case, multiple outdoor concerts will be forced to navigate the less-than-ideal situation.
The Alabama Shakes show is one of three scheduled this week at Outlaw Field. Slightly Stoopid is Thursday, and the Australian Pink Floyd Show is Friday.
A Goo Goo Dolls performance Monday night at the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater in Nampa was moved indoors to the venue’s arena. On Friday, country singer Jason Aldean also is slated to perform at the outdoor amphitheater. No announcement has been made regarding that show.
