A Connecticut native dug his own grave in Ariana Grande’s latest music video.

Fairfield native Justin Long appears in the music video for Ariana Grande’s song “hate that i made you love me.” In the video, released Monday, June 1, Long’s character is seen filling a grave with dirt and driving at night before seeing an apparition of a woman played by Grande.

He crashes his car, which catches fire, but manages to stumble away injured as the woman follows him. He goes inside a home filled with items including pictures of the two together and a plate that reads “happy 8th anniversary.” He throws the items into a fireplace but accidentally sets himself on fire.

Severely burned, he walks into a diner, where multiple people appear as Grande. He then digs up the gravesite, but after he reaches the bottom, Grande’s character appears above him and begins burying him.

“hate that i made you love me” is part of Grande’s upcoming album, “petal,” set to be released July 31. Grande has said the album is “kind of about breaking up with all different kinds of negative attachments,” according to iHeartRadio.

Long is an award-winning actor whose work spans several genres, including horror, comedy, drama and science fiction. Some of Long’s best-known films include “DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story,” “Live Free or Die Hard,” “Tusk” and the “Alvin and the Chipmunks” series.

Grande herself has ties to Connecticut. She played Charlotte in Goodspeed Musicals‘ production of “13” at The Norma Terris Theatre in Chester in 2008. The star has also previously toured in Connecticut. She stopped at the Mohegan Sun Arena on her “Dangerous Woman” tour in 2017.
