“Y’all may have heard that I’m winding down,” the country music legend told the crowd. “In fact, this is my last road show we’re doing.”

“Preciate y’all,” Jackson finally said. “Y’all gonna make me tear up out here.”

That’s when Jackson dropped a bit of a surprise.

“I will say, this is my last road show out here, but we are planning on doing a big finale show in Nashville next summer,” he said. “Just felt like I had to end it all where it all started, and that’s in Nashville, Tennessee. Music City. I got to do my last one there. This is the last one out on the road for me. It’s been a long, sweet ride.”

Jackson then told a little bit of the story of his struggle to make it.

“It started 40 years ago this September,” he said. “My wife and I drove to Nashville with an old U-Haul trailer chasing the dream, and it has been a crazy ride. Lived the American Dream for sure, and I’m so blessed, and thank y’all so much for all of your support, coming to the shows.”

When Jackson ended the show, he addressed the crowd once more.

“I just want to say thanks to y’all once again,” he said. “Y’all have been a wonderful crowd here tonight. I can’t think of a better way to end my touring career out here with y’all. Wonderful crowd. God bless you. Appreciate you.

“Maybe I’ll see y’all again one day.”

While it is sad that Jackson is stepping away, he is doing it for health reasons and to be with family. And, in the end, he did pretty, darned well for himself to put himself in position to able to make the move.

It has been a long run for Jackson, who began his career in 1987. It has been a lucrative run, too.

Just how lucrative?

Well, according to CelebrityNetWorth.com, Jackson has an estimated fortune of $150 million. That number was also good enough to put Jackson among the top 10 — he was ninth — richest active country music stars in the country in 2024.

The 66-year-old began his “Last Call: One More for the Road Tour,” in August.

“I’ve been touring for over 30 years, you know, played everywhere in the country and parts of the world,” Jackson said in a video posted to his X, formerly Twitter, account. “Have had a wonderful career, and getting into my twilight years, and all my daughters are grown, and I got one grandchild and one on the way. Enjoy spending more time at home, and don’t want to be away like I had to be in my younger days, and I don’t tour as much now as I did 10 years ago. But I think it’s getting time to start thinking about hanging it up full-time.”

Jackson revealed in 2021 that he has Charcot-Marie-Tooth, a chronic neuropathy condition that effects a person’s balance and ability to walk. He also addressed that in the video posted to his account.
