Fans of country music star Gary Allan are sending prayers and well-wishes this week after he announced the death of his mother.
Allan’s official Facebook account made the revelation via a statement posted there on Monday.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of Gary’s mom, Mary Herzberg, who passed away yesterday,” the post read. “Mary was so much more than a supportive mother — she was Gary’s friend, confidant, biggest critic, biggest fan, his original fan club president, and most importantly, his mom. She championed him not only in his career but also in every part of his life.
“If you had the privilege of meeting Mary, whether in person or online, you know the depth of her pride and love for Gary and her entire family,” the statement continued. “Her warmth, encouragement, and unwavering spirit touched all who knew her.”
The statement also noted that Herzberg’s husband of 51 years, Harley, died in 2008.
“Please keep Gary, his siblings Tammy and Greg, and the entire Herzberg family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” the statement added. “We will miss you dearly, Mama Mary.”
Again, fans and friends were there to offer supporting words.
“I’m at a loss for the right words to say,” Mary Katherine Smith wrote. “I know the loss of my mother (sadly way too young), and given his mother and my father are close in age, I appreciate also the tone of the loss of an older parent as well when mine nearly died earlier this year. My heart goes out to Gary, Tammy, and Greg, as well as their children who have lost their dear grandmother, and all of the extended family.”
“Very sorry to hear about the passing for Mary,” Cheryl Stahl added. “I know all too well the pain of losing a parent. My father passed a few weeks after I got back from the fan club party this year. Condolences to the entire family.”
