Country music fans are sending prayers to The Mavericks frontman Raul Malo after he was rushed to the emergency room on Thursday as his batter against stage 4 cancer took a concerning turn.
His wife, Betty Malo, shared the news on Facebook.
“Our love is fighting hard right now but not a second goes by that he doesn’t appreciate all the love everyone shows him,” she wrote along with photos of the two holding hands. “The boys and I had to bring him to the ER earlier today but (Raul Malo) is stable and ready to fight. We are all excited for (The Ryman) shows and hope everyone enjoys them! Raul has changed many lives and his music has brought so much love to so many people. Let’s all stand with him and rally!!!”
Fans were quick to respond with love.
“Stay strong, stay positive, I’m sending all my love and support to Raul and his family during this tough time,” one person replied.
“We are fighting with you with everything we have!” another replied.
“We are all praying nonstop,” another replied. “We know how strong you both are but we all need some help from above. God allowing, I will be at both shows. Our respect for you and Raul, our awe and admiration at the strength you both are showing is immeasurable. He is the very best singer in the world we are in love with that incredible talent but our love for him is above and beyond. His music and kindness ahs kept many of us going and seen us thrive when we thought we could not take another step … we are here for you. Anything you all need, reach out. Stay strong dear Raul, Betty and entire family. We love you.”

Raul Malo, 60, is battling stage 4 cancer and Leptomenigeal Disease. His hospitalization came on the eve of a scheduled two-night performance to honor him. at the Ryman Auditorium
The Mavericks announced the show last month.
“We’re proud to announce the Dance The Night Away: A 35-year Musical Legacy Celebrating The Mavericks & Honoring Raul Malo, December 5-6 at (Ryman) Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee,” The Mavericks announced in a statement last month. “A 2-night tribute show in honor of Raul and the band’s decades-long history and contributions to American and Latin music, these special evenings will feature guest appearances from an exceptional lineup of friends and artists performing selections from The Mavericks’ storied catalog of classics.”
The group shared a long list of performers who are slated to take part including Jamy Johnson, Marty Stuart, Steve Earle, Chuck Mead, Cimafunk, Emily West, Hector Tellez Jr., Jaime Hana, JD McPherson, James Otto, Jim Lauderdale, Jese Dayton, Jimmie Vaughan, Joshua Ray Walker, Maggie Rose, Mandy Barnett, Nicole Atkins, Waylon Payne, Sweet Lizzy Project, Wade Hayes, Seth Walker, Nikkie Lane, Patty Griffin and Ray Benson.
The Mavericks previously announced that Malo would not be able to perform but would be in attendance. That could sadly be in question now with his latest health development.
