Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is engaged to Georgina Rodríguez after eight years of dating.
Rodríguez, 31, announced the news via Instagram on Monday, August 11, showing off a massive engagement ring in the process.
“Yes I do,” Rodríguez wrote. “In this and in all my lives.”
The post featured a photo of the giant bling on Rodríguez’s finger, with her hand laid atop the soccer star’s hand.
Ronaldo and Rodríguez went public with their relationship in January 2017 when they attended the Best FIFA Football Awards in Germany.
In July 2024, Ronaldo sparked speculation that he and Rodríguez had already tied the knot when he referred to her as “his wife.”
“When I’m not training in the club, I like to work with my wife at home because I can push her and she can push me, too,” Ronaldo said in an Instagram ad.
Ronaldo and Rodríguez share twins Eva and Mateo, 8, daughter Alana, 7, and twins Bella and Ángel, who were born in April 2022.
In a social media post shortly after the younger twins were due to arrive, Ronaldo revealed that Ángel had died during childbirth.
“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away,” he wrote via Instagram. “It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.”
Ronaldo is also the father of son Cristiano Jr., 15, though he has never revealed the identity of his mother.
Earlier this year, Rodríguez celebrated Eva and Mateo’s 8th birthdays by posting a carousel of photos on social media.
“Happy 8 years, my loves,” she wrote via Instagram. “Mommy loves you endlessly.”
In the Netflix docuseries I Am Georgina, released in January 2022, Rodríguez reflected on meeting Ronaldo when she was working at a Gucci store.
“We had a very special start to our relationship,” she said. “Many times he’d come after work. He [came], I remember once, in a Bugatti. My coworkers went crazy. They get there on the bus, and I would leave in a Bugatti. I mean, people couldn’t believe it.”
Ronaldo also recalled the early days of his relationship with Rodríguez in the series.
“It was funny because I would wait for her outside the store in these flashy cars I have,” he said. “We would go home, and there we would go into our own world.”
