George Eads recently talked about one of the most iconic scenes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation he shot as Nick Stokes which was directed by Quentin Tarantino. The director worked on the Season 5 finale, where Nick was buried alive and had the situation set against him. Eads reminisced about the process and revealed that Tarantino did something that made him emotional.
George Eads cried after learning Quentin Tarantino wants to bury him alive on CSI
CSI Season 5 finale saw Nick Stokes buried alive in a coffin. One of the walls was taken out for the camera. In a recent chat with GQ, Eads recalled asking Tarantino for guidance and direction during the scene. Right before they were about to shoot the scene, Eads revealed, “He leans over and he whispers in my ear, ‘On this one, I want you to imagine your mother is watching you die, saying goodbye… I said, ‘OK.’ So we hit record, and he starts going, while we’re rolling – he sings – ‘Hush little baby, don’t you cry.’ I get chills now just thinking about it.”
George Eads appreciated the notion and said that under Tarantino’s direction on CSI, he was able to pull off the scene. His character, Nick Stokes, was buried alive while the coffin was lined with bombs. Later, fire ants were to crawl all over him, making the entire routine pretty intense.
Eads stated, “You have this well inside of you, of emotion. That guy digs down to the earth’s core, and you do things you didn’t know [you could]. He opens these doors in your mind and your soul that you didn’t know were closed.”
When this instance was pointed out to Tarantino, he said that he does not remember it; however, he is sure that he would “do something like that.”
As for George Eads, even before Tarantino took over the finale episode of CSI, he revealed he was a huge fan of the director’s work. On the set, he wanted to approach Tarantino with all his questions but managed to keep it professional.
