Dan + Shay turned one fan’s wedding into an unforgettable moment after making a surprise appearance and performing unreleased music during the celebration.
The country duo crashed a wedding reception in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, giving guests a once-in-a-lifetime experience that included live performances, emotional moments, and a first listen to new material from their upcoming album Young.
A Secret Wedding Surprise in Tennessee
Before the wedding, Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney asked via their Instagram Stories if there are any couples getting married in Nashville. Bride Emily Hood Weiss, a loyal fan, tried her luck but revealed the duo “ghosted” her. “I hadn’t even mentioned the possibility of them coming to our wedding to my now-husband, Seth [Weiss], because 1) they ghosted me, and 2) we got married in Murfreesboro, which is half an hour outside of Nashville, so I didn’t think they would come because they were playing a set for CMA Fest later that night,” Weiss told People.
Unknown to her, the duo was secretly working alongside the bride’s maid of honor to pull off the unexpected appearance.
When the duo finally walked into the reception at Saddle Woods Farm, guests were stunned as the intimate celebration instantly turned into a live concert experience.
Dan + Shay Debuts Unreleased Song at the Reception
During their set, Dan + Shay performed several songs for the newlyweds and their guests, including an unreleased track titled “Marry You Again.”
The song is expected to appear on their upcoming album Young, set for release later this month, and marked one of the first public performances of the track.
The duo posted a video before they crashed the wedding reception and how they danced and partied with everyone. Smyers said in the video, “Emily and Seth, beautiful wedding. Beautiful people. It was so much fun.” Mooney added, “It felt like we were in the family tonight.”
It seems their wedding-crashing days are not over since the country duo crashed another wedding and performed “From The Ground Up” for the bride and groom’s first dance.
