Dancing brothers provide entertainment at X’s games

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – We’ve been covering the season long success of the Sioux City Explorers as they are competing to lock up a playoff spot.

But another part of the X’s season that can’t be overlooked is the groundskeepers that keep the park looking good for Sioux City, and they also keep the fans entertained.

Easton and Seth Hodgins are brothers who grew up sharing a passion of entertaining and enjoying America’s past time.

After a little motivation from the Sioux City Explorers GM Tom Backemeyer, the brothers decided to take action.

“Get some guys together that work here and dance while you drag, so he asked me and my brother, and we were like ‘let’s do it why not?’”

So, they hired a dance company to make a dance and now they go out and perform for the fans that make it out to Lewis & Clark Park.

“It’s definitely exciting, it’s a little scary too like on the 4th of July you have thousands of fans staring at you, watching you dance and if you mess up they’re all going to see it it’s also exciting, it gets the fans into it, and the fans love us.”

And just like the players for Sioux City, the dancing ground crew has to study the film and see where they can improve and how well they danced.

But for the brothers, even if they mess up, they still enjoy giving the fans another source of entertainment.

“Really putting on a show for the fans we’re both people that will go out of the way and try to make everyone’s day better and so if that means us messing up on the field dancing, we still have a good time, we just laugh about it and joke about it all the time, so.”

While Easton and Seth both cheer on the X’s and want to do their part to make the experience at the ballpark more enjoyable for everyone, they still have a little brotherly rivalry while doing so.

“I’m a better dancer than him, and I’m the head guy for it so that makes it a little better that I have a higher step over him.”

One thing they can both agree on though, is that they would love the dancing grounds crew stick around for years to come.

“I hope it’s here to stay it’s just a great thing. Like Easton said, all the fans love us and I think it’s hard to look at it from the business side and you get the fans rowdy and hyped up that’s something that’s hard to take away from your experience at the ball field.”
