Dancing With the Stars Season 35 is starting to take shape, with several celebrities confirmed for the upcoming cast. According to reporting from Us Weekly, The Hollywood Reporter, and entertainment interviews cited in the original coverage, the new season will mix reality TV personalities, athletes, and media figures, some with real dance backgrounds and others with none at all.
One of the confirmed contestants is Ciara Miller, best known from Summer House, The Traitors, and Love Island USA: Aftersun. Ciara was previously rumored for Season 34, but this time she is officially joining the competition. She already has an idea of who she would like as a partner.
In an interview with Us Weekly, she said she hopes to be paired with professional dancer Valentin Chmerkovskiy. She explained that she wants a strict teacher who will push her to improve. She said, “I want someone who is hard on me. Like, ‘You got to get this down.’ We’d have to work so hard. I don’t want any funny games. We’re in there to work!”
Even though she is entering the competition as a reality star, Ciara does have a dance background. She revealed that she took ballet classes for about 10 years when she was younger, which may give her an early advantage compared to other contestants.
Another confirmed cast member is Maura Higgins, who gained fame from Love Island. Her casting had been rumored for months before it was officially announced. In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Maura admitted that joining the show would be a major challenge, but one she is ready for.
She said, “It would be a huge challenge,” and added that she would fully commit to the experience, including the costumes and performance side of the show. She also said, “I know I’d throw myself into it and all the looks and glitter.”
Maura has some limited dance experience as well. She mentioned that she did a bit of Irish dancing when she was younger, though she has not trained professionally. That means she will likely be learning most of the competition routines from scratch.
The cast also includes Jackson Olson, known for his work with the Savannah Bananas baseball team and his popularity on TikTok. Fans had already speculated about his participation after he responded to a fan online with a video of dance clips and wrote, “Long story short… yes, yes I would.”
Unlike some of his competitors, Jackson does not have formal dance training. However, he has experience performing choreographed routines as part of the Savannah Bananas entertainment-style baseball performances, which may help him adapt quickly in rehearsals.
Another surprising addition is Guillermo Rodriguez, best known as a longtime on-screen personality on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Host Jimmy Kimmel joked about his casting, saying, “Guillermo will become the first-ever parking lot security guard to dance with the stars.”
Guillermo’s background is not in dance, and he has no known formal training. His casting adds a comedic and unpredictable element to the season, especially given his long history in television entertainment rather than performance competition.
With this mix of reality stars, internet personalities, and TV figures, Season 35 of Dancing With the Stars is expected to bring a wide range of skill levels and personalities to the ballroom. More contestants are expected to be announced as the premiere approaches.
