Before the Dancing With The Stars semifinals premiere on Tuesday, Nov. 18, we’re breaking down the episode’s format before the final six pairs hit the hardwood floor for a duo of dances.
As previously mentioned, the Week 10 episode will showcase a pair of individual dances for the final six couples: Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas, Robert Irwin and Whitney Carson, Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach, Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy, Jordan Chiles and Eza Sosa and Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten.
Today, the show revealed that one of those dances will showcase a brand-new style for each pair, alongside a style that they’ve previously conquered on the show.
First, let’s take a look at the uncharted territory that awaits the final six duos.
Two of Tuesday night’s top scorers, Leavitt and Irwin, will tackle the Viennese Waltz alongside their professional partners. Leavitt and Ballas will perform their routine to “Slow Love,” while Irwin and Carson will dance to “Wow.” Meanwhile, Efron and Karagach, who also earned a top spot on the show’s latest leaderboard, will perform a Tango to “I Would Die 4 U.”
Additionally, Earle and Chmerkovskiy will debut their first Argentine Tango to “Little Red Corvette.” Another pairing to take on the Tango is Chiles and Sosa, who will hit the stage to the song, “U Got the Look.” Finally, performing their inaugural on-stage Paso Doble to “When Doves Cry” will be Hendrix and Bernsten, as they look to step out of the last-place spot from last week’s leaderboard.
As noted above, there will also be a redemption round of sorts, with each pair tackling a style of dance they already attempted.
Leavitt and Ballas
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star will redeem her Week 2 Cha Cha for their Week 10 performance to Prince’s “1999.” Her original Cha Cha to “Play That Funky Music” by Wild Cherry earned the duo a 22/30, with a pair of 7s from Hough and Inaba and a sole 8 from Tonioli.
Irwin and Carson
Irwin’s Week 1 Jive to Steppenwolf’s “Born to be Wild” wrapped up the Season 34 premiere and earned the duo a 15/20. With Inaba absent, the pair earned an 8 from Hough and a 7 from Tonioli. They’ll perform the style again to “Baby I’m A Star.”
Efron and Karagach
Also during the Season 34 premiere, Efron notched a 10/20 (two 5s from Hough and Tonioli) for his initial Cha Cha to “Milkshake” by Kelis. Two months later, he will take the stage with Karagach with another ode to style to “Kiss.”
Earle and Chmerkovskiy
Earle paid homage to Disney’s Maleficent with her Week 4 Viennese Waltz to Lana Del Rey’s “Once Upon a Dream,” earning the pair a 24/30 (three 8s from the judges). She’ll look to impress the judges once again with her latest performance to “Purple Rain.”
Chiles and Sosa
Chiles notched a 22/30 for her Week 2 Jive to “Maniac” by Michael Sembello. Inaba gave the pair an 8, and they notched two 7s from the remaining judges. They’ll showcase the style again on Tuesday to the song “Raspberry Beret.”
Hendrix and Bernsten
Hendrix was joined by her bestie, Lisa Ann Walter, for her initial Foxtrot on “Dedication Night” to Natalie Cole’s “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love).” The duo scored a 30/40 (two 7s and two 8s) and will perform the style again to “I Wanna Be Your Lover.”
