Danielle Fishel and Pasha Pashkov are gearing up for Dancing with the Stars!
The actress, 44, and the pro, 39, recently spoke with PEOPLE at the ABC Summer Soirée in Los Angeles, where they revealed how they’ve been preparing for season 34. With their eye on the mirrorball trophy, the pair say they are making sure to stay on top of their health.
“I definitely am going to have to start routines,” Fishel admits. “I’ve been trying to do them. Stretching has become a non-negotiable for me. I have to stretch every single night. I have to stretch every single morning. I’m trying to stay hydrated because it is very hot and we are sweating a lot, so I’m trying to stay hydrated.”
“I’m also trying to do some cold plunges when I can,” she continues. “My muscles are very sore right now, so I’m trying to take care of them as best I can.”

Pashkov says his best tip for getting through the competition is to “stay focused” and “in your own lane” as the pressure comes down harder.
“Don’t get distracted with what anybody else is doing,” he explains. “That’s very important. All the things that she’s already doing, like hydrating, sleeping, stretching, recovering, because it’s a lot. And I know you said that I’m used to it, and even though I’m used to it, the hours are so grueling that I’m also very sore.”
He adds: “I think it’s just keeping balance between hard work, but at the same time knowing when to turn off your brain and your body. Give it a chance to recharge because it’s a long, long competition. And if you don’t recover, it can become very short, really quick.”
While the Boy Meets World alum is hoping for a smooth journey when the season kicks off on Sept. 16, she jokes that it does bring her some comfort to know that even Pashkov gets sore.
“I’m a team player,” he quips.

Earlier this month, Fishel opened up to PEOPLE about her decision to participate in DWTS after undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
”The minute I was done with my cancer treatment, I thought to myself, ‘If this has shown me anything, it has shown me that I am not experiencing enough joy in my life,'” she shared. ”I’m going through every day, performing tasks and being there for my family and being there for work. Where’s the fun?”
“When they asked me to do this, I was like, ‘This is the perfect way to cap it off,’“ she noted.
Last August, Fishel was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer called ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), which she shared on her podcast, Pod Meets World. She told PEOPLE that her treatment included a lumpectomy, a margin revision surgery and 20 rounds of radiation.
Going into 2025, Fishel said her mantra was “saying yes to this year” — and as she tells PEOPLE, joining DWTS “was just the fastest” she’s ever said “yes.”
