The Boy Meets World star, 44, who will compete on the 34th season of Dancing With the Stars, has a few songs in mind for when she hits the ballroom floor alongside partner Pasha Pashkov on Sept. 16.
“I am Sabrina Carpenter‘s No. 1 fan,” Fishel exclusively tells Parade of her former Girl Meets World co-star.
“It would be an absolute shame if I didn’t do a dance to one of her songs,” Fishel continues. “It was one of the first things I said to Pasha: ‘I have to pick my favorite Sabrina Carpenter song.’”
While Fishel has a Carpenter song in mind, she says that fans will have to wait to find out which one she’ll be tangoing to. However, it could be for her salsa, which Pashkov says he can “absolutely” see her “smashing.”
Fishel, who created the role of Topanga Lawrence on the hit ‘90s sitcom Boy Meets World, reprised the role for the Disney Channel spinoff, which told a coming-of-age story from a girl’s perspective. Carpenter, 26, played the role of Maya Hart, the best friend of Topanga and Cory’s daughter Riley Matthews.

Boy Meets World, which ran on ABC from 1993 to 2000, was such an iconic part of ‘90s television that Fishel’s partner Pashkov watched almost the entire seven seasons before the DWTS cast was announced.
“So I have not watched [the show] growing up because I didn’t grow up here,” says Pashkov, who began taking dance classes in Russia when he was 11. “But once there was a rumor that Danielle might be on this season, I binge-watched a lot of it. So, I fell in love with the show. I think it’s so funny. It’s still relevant to this day.”
He adds, “My wife [dancer Daniella Karagach] is a huge fan, so she’s like, ‘If you’re going to watch it, I’m going to rewatch with you’ because she grew up on it.”

The new season of ABC’s dance competition will once again be co-hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough, and judged by Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough.
Also in this season’s cast are Jen Affleck with partner Jan Ravnik, Hilaria Baldwin with partner Gleb Savchenko, Jordan Chiles with partner Ezra Sosa, Baron Davis with partner Britt Stewart, Alix Earle with partner Val Chmerkovskiy, Dylan Efron with partner Daniella Karagach, Corey Feldman with partner Jenna Johnson, Elaine Hendrix with partner Alan Bersten, Scott Hoying with partner Rylee Arnold, Robert Irwin with partner Witney Carson, Lauren Jauregui with partner Brandon Armstrong, Whitney Leavitt with partner Mark Ballas and Andy Richter with partner Emma Slater.
Dancing With the Stars Season 34 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 16, live on ABC and Disney+, and streams next day on Hulu.
