The country singer announced his engagement to fiancée Emily Deahl on Oct. 8
“Thank you for showing me a level of happiness I have never known,” the Hootie & the Blowfish frontman wrote at the time
Darius Rucker is taking a relaxed approach to wedding planning with fiancée Emily Deahl.
In fact, when asked about how the process was going during a Monday, Nov. 10 appearance on the Today show, the country singer, 59, revealed that he’s not doing any planning at all.
“We don’t really have any plans,” Rucker said. “We’re not going to plan — we’re just gonna get married and have a big party somewhere.”
Reflecting on his engagement to his fiancée, who is a lifestyle content creator and singer-songwriter, the musician said, “Emily and I, we’ve been together for a couple of years, and she’s an amazing human being.”
The Hootie & the Blowfish frontman said he popped the question on Pawleys Island in South Carolina, describing the occasion as “a great day.”
Rucker and Deahl, 33, announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post on Oct. 8.
“Thank you for showing me a level of happiness I have never known. The day I met you I knew I didn’t want to go another one without you. Now I don’t have to,” the “Never Been Over” singer wrote.
The post featured a black-and-white photo of a barefoot Rucker down on bended knee as Deahl stood in front of him with a big smile on her face. A second photo captured the pair cuddled up as Rucker planted a kiss on Deahl’s cheek and she rested her left hand on top of his, showing off her large diamond engagement ring.

At the time, Deahl shared the post on her Instagram Stories and explained to her followers why they hadn’t seen much of Rucker on her social media prior to the engagement.
“I never intended on keeping this part of my life from you guys for so long, but somewhere along the way of loving him I discovered how sacred love is to me,” she wrote. “And all I wanted to do was protect it.”
“But damn I’m glad I don’t have to spend the time photoshopping him out of every photo now 🥳,” she joked.
Rucker, too, kept their romance under wraps. He hard-launched their relationship with a post on Instagram on Sept. 8, featuring a photo of the couple posing together in front of the Sphere arena during a trip to Las Vegas.

Rucker was previously married to Beth Leonard from 2000 to 2020. They share two children, daughter Daniella, 24, and son Jack, 21. The Grammy winner is also dad to daughter Carolyn, 30, whom he welcomed with ex Elizabeth Ann Phillips.
