ABC World News Tonight anchor David Muir left viewers feeling “sick” Friday after delivering a “chilling” report on the arrest of R&B singer D4vd in connection with the murder of a 14 year old girl whose body was found stuffed inside the trunk of his Tesla.
The segment featured dramatic footage obtained by TMZ capturing the tense moments when Los Angeles Police Department officers in tactical gear escorted David Anthony Burke, 21, through the streets of the Hollywood Hills in handcuffs on Wednesday.
“Video tonight showing the tense moments as he was taken into custody and authorities on how long that victim was in the trunk,” Muir said Friday, adding, “Tonight dramatic video captured by TMZ showing the tense moments LAPD officers arrested singer David on suspicion of murdering a teenage girl who had been found dead in the trunk of his car.” It comes after viewers were “visibily moved” by one of Muir’s emotional broadcasts.
Burke, who performs under the stage name D4vd and boasts tens of millions of monthly Spotify listeners, was taken into custody in connection with the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose body was discovered on September 8, 2025, concealed inside the front trunk of a Tesla Model Y registered to Burke.
The development comes after the singer’s connection to Sandra Bullock was brought to light.

The segment explained how employees at Hollywood Tow had previously reported a foul smell emanating from the vehicle, which had been left abandoned on the lot for five days after being towed from the vicinity of Burke’s Hollywood Hills rental property.
Medical examiners concluded that Hernandez had likely been deceased for weeks prior to her body being found, the day after her 15th birthday. Her death was subsequently ruled a homicide.
Hernandez had been missing from Lake Elsinore since April 2024, when she was only 13 years old.

Her mother informed investigators she had a boyfriend named David at the time she vanished. The two reportedly had matching tattoos on their right index fingers with the letters “Shhh.”
TMZ’s Charles Latibeaudiere informed KTLA that investigators suspected Burke likely had assistance, stating, “Another thing that we are told is that they know now, based on the manner in which Celeste’s body was dismembered, that investigators believe it’s very likely whoever did that to her had help.”
Investigators also examined a mysterious late-night journey Burke allegedly took to a remote location in Santa Barbara County in spring 2025.
“We know that investigators are looking closely at that journey to Santa Barbara,” Latibeaudiere said. “They believe it may be connected to whatever ended up happening to Celeste.” Burke is presently being detained without bail. His legal team released a statement declaring, “The actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez, and he was not the cause of her death.”
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Major Crimes Division is anticipated to examine the case on April 20 for potential filing.
The lawyer representing the Rivas family stated, “The family remembers Celeste as a daughter and sister, whose loss has deeply affected those who knew and loved her.” Her father, Jesus Rivas, reacted to the arrest with four words, “Thank God … Justice for Celeste.”
